I remember hearing the title phrase a long time ago, in an ad for some sort of annuity company advertising a retirement savings plan. No, I don’t remember which one. However, I do remember the first time I heard it, I though well, why don’t you just write a novel, then?
Over the intervening years, I thought about it, and came up with several reasons why someone might not write a novel, even though they wanted to. Things such as not having an idea, or not being sure of how to go about it. As these thoughts went through my head, I came up with answers for each, aside from not having time. That’s what this blog is going to be partly dedicated to.
Now, just telling you what to do isn’t going to help much, is it? Everyone is different, and each person needs to figure out what works best for them. That’s why I’ll offer a range of advice on the topic, explain how I do it, and offer examples of other people doing it, with an analysis of how they tackled the topic. Admittedly, that will also double as book recommendations.
Anyway, I offer this advice because, in my opinion, the more good, entertaining works of fiction out there, the better.
Fow now, if you have ever wanted to write something, but haven’t actually done it, ask yourself why. Is it because you don’t know what you want to write about? Or because you can’t come up with a good plot? Maybe you don’t know if it’ll be any good. Maybe you don’t know about publishing it? It’s even possible that something else is wrong. As time goes on, I’ll be offering solutions to all those problems and more, to remove any excuse you, aspiring writer, may have, and help you write that novel!
